Woodford Honey's Bees
Woodford Honey's Bees are Apis Mellifera or European Honey Bee.
Apis is Latin for "bee", and mellifera
comes from Latin melli- "honey" and ferre
"to bear" - hence the scientific name means "honey-bearing bee".The European Honey Bees have a good temperament and are good workers.

- A Worker bee's lifespan is up to 6 weeks
- A Queen bee's lifespan can be up to 5 years
- A Queen bee can lay up to 2,000 eggs per day
- Drone bees cannot sting
- An average hive can consume around 100 litres of water a week in hot conditions
- Everything produced in the hive can be used by humans. Honey for eating and medicinal purposes, bees wax for candles. Bee Venom can also be harvested and is used in natural medince
- With good conditions, a hive can produce 60 kg or more of Honey a season
- In Autumn, Australian Beekeepers make packages of live bees and airfreight them to overseas beekeepers to start their hives in the northern hemisphere Spring
